Anti-friction graphite coating
Anti-friction coatings, called graphite coatings in jargon, are obtained by polymerization, on the surfaces of metal and non-metal elements, of special resins with solid suspension of anti-friction materials such as graphite, molybdenum disulphide, PTFE® and other polymers. These coatings allow to apply a tenaciously adhesive, soft, highly sliding and self-lubricating layer on the elements.
The advantages of graphite coating are related to the quality of the polymer, the average higher thickness and the high anchoring strength
Wide range of applications
Graphite coating is ideal for applications on pistons of endothermic engines, both 2 and 4 strokes, powered by gasoline, diesel or natural gas as well as on pistons of stirling engines and other types of endothermic engines. The most frequent applications, in the field of pistons, are cars and motorcycles in general. Graphite coating, in addition to pistons, can be successfully applied on many other components such as sliding parts, screws and threaded rods, levers, parts of industrial machinery, etc.
High durability over time
The graphite coating offered by Precise Technology is different from any other graphite coating for a series of unique peculiarities; many times pistons that adopt this coating do not offer a real advantage and lose it, for consumption, in a short time. Instead, the graphite coating made by Precise Technology benefits from incredible durability.
Graphite coating offers a performance advantage thanks to the fact that, after a very short break-in, the graphite layer "consumes" only in the points where it rests, going to follow the profile of the piston. This fact creates a different thickness on the whole coating which, in addition to reducing the coefficient of friction with the cylinder liner, increases the compression of the piston itself by reducing the blow-by. This will result in a higher torque at low and medium speeds with an appreciable increase in performance.
Ideal for restorations
Graphite coating is applied not only on brand new pistons but also on used elements. In particular on used pistons the graphite coating is appreciable not only for the anti-friction properties already described but also for its ability to compensate the movement caused by wear and, therefore, the possibility to restore the correct working of hard to find pistons (e.g. Ferrari Classica, vintage Porsche and vintage cars in general).
