Black Ox
Functional/aesthetic treatment for a corrosion-resistant surface
Color: black
Applications: silicon-rich aluminum castings
Properties: anti-oxidant
Black Ox is a black anodizing specifically dedicated to aluminum parts obtained by casting with an high percentage of silicon
Versatile
Through Black Ox anodizing it is possible to anodize not only conventional billet (CNC, wrought) aluminum components but also cast aluminum elements (cast aluminum, melted aluminium, zamak) and characterized by high percentages of silicon (even more than 10%) usually considered not anodizable.
Corrective
Almost all of the cast aluminum components (and also some billet elements), when subjected to traditional anodizing, may present important unsightly defects such as scrubs, stains, dots, etc. With Black Ox anodic oxidation treatment it will be possible to definitively solve this problem giving, also to the cast pieces, a deep and homogeneous black color.
With Black Ox anodizing not only a deep and homogenous black color but also incredible anti-oxidant and hardening properties will be reached
Anti-oxidant
Black Ox anodizing considerably increases the corrosion resistance of cast aluminum components: in salt spray, depending on the type of alloy and the thickness of the treatment, it can exceed 1000 hours.
Hardening
The surface hardness measured after black anodizing treatment of cast aluminium or zamak components increases if compared to the values of a traditional anodizing on aluminum: up to 300Hv can be obtained.
Final oiling treatment based on PTFE®: to further emphasize the properties of Black Ox anodizing
Different thickness
The thickness to which Black Ox black anodizing specific for castings can be applied is from 5 microns to a maximum of 20 microns depending on the type of need. For components that need to be painted are enough 5 microns. For highly stressed elements 20 microns can be reached.
PTFE® oiling
The anodizing galvanic step is associated with a final impregnation based on micronized and polarized PTFE® which further increases corrosion resistance thanks to saturation of the cast aluminum pores and gives the components a glossy black effect.
The components treated with Black Ox black anodizing are paintable; the treatment is an excellent primer for the adhesion of polymers
Ideal for an adherent painting
The difficulties in aluminum painting are well known: the metal conformation itself and its characteristics make it a difficult material to paint with good results. Through Black Ox anodizing, specific for cast aluminum, it will be possible to create an excellent base that will effectively act as a primer for a perfect adhesion of the further paint.
Ideal for a durable painting
Aluminum, in addition to being difficult to paint for the adhesion of the paint itself, as a material suitable to rapid oxidation, often creates problems of paint resistance over time. It can in fact create points of oxidation that will cause the detachment of the painting layer from the aluminum. Black Ox anodizing, specific for castings, thanks to its anti-oxidant properties prevents the formation of oxide under the paint layer ensuring a perfect sealing of the painting over time.
